GET THE DAMAGE FIXED RIGHT

No matter the size of hail that struck the roof of your home—you could have hidden damage. All hail has the potential to cause shingle delamination and other problems, that if not addressed can cause roofing problems relating to the structure and integrity your home. You should have your roof inspected by a professional roofing company as soon as possible, as well as temporary repair measures to prevent further damage.

Hail damage can range from large, highly visible dents and tears to almost undetectable indentations or unnoticeable granule damage. Even small amounts of damage can compromise the integrity of the roofing system, leading to deterioration of the shingles months later.

Normally, if a roofing shingle shows outward damage, the underlying shingle layers may be compromised and affected to some degree. If the roof is damaged, the hail impact may affect the granular surfacing in the asphalt shingle top coating. This loosens the granules, potentially allowing the granules to separate from the coating layer and wash off the roof. Without the granule surfacing, the asphalt top coating is exposed to ultraviolet radiation from ordinary sunlight and will eventually deteriorate and exposing the underlay creating the potential for a leak.

On severe hail damage, the fiberglass substrate may be physically broken further, compromising the weather integrity of the shingle. Outward roof damage may not appear until months or years later.
